Horses  *  Riding Lessons  *  Training

Beginner riders are started bareback...... yes, bareback..... even the very little ones.  They learn to "feel" the horse, its muscles, its movements, and most importantly, they learn BALANCE!  They never learn to depend on a saddle for balance or support on the horse, and great posture is developed as a additional attribute...... sometimes just as a matter of 'survival'!  :-)  Rider and horse share a more 'personal' bond, when bareback riding is incorporated regularly, and I've had students request bareback lessons, even over fences, to reinforce their skills and the balance required therein...... and I never ask my students to execute anything on horseback that I won't do myself.

Lessons include English Hunt Seat and Saddleseat, Western Pleasure, and Competitive Trail.  My lesson horses are versatile, gentle, and have just enough 'attitude' that a rider must give the command properly to elicit the correct response.  Riders are taught to retrieve the horses from the pasture, groom them for riding, including use of the hoof pick, and then saddling and bridling techniques......  for the very little ones, it works quite well if they tell the horse to say "AH!", while holding the bit against the horse's lips!!!   Complete horse care is necessary to develop a complete rider..... and lessons are always "fun"....... even the serious ones, in preparation for a show or ride.

Please feel free to contact me for further information about lessons..... on your horse or mine..... I will travel reasonable distances for lessons and training.....  e-mail me at horses@horsegalraye.com or call 352-447-6286.
